The Rev. Canon Stephen Connor is the Canon to the Ordinary.
Rev. Connor recently served as Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Ocean City and co-chair of the Committee on the Priesthood. In 2017 – 18. He attended General Theological Seminary for an Anglican Studies Year and was received into the Episcopal priesthood on June 30, 2018. While at General, he completed a Masters in Sacred Theology (STM). Prior to being received into the Episcopal priesthood, he was a member of a Roman Catholic religious community the Paulist Fathers from 1983 – 2005 receiving an M.Div. from Catholic University. Ordained to the priesthood in 1989. Rev. Connor served in various ministries such as urban ministry, campus ministry, publishing, Director of Vocations, and member of the leadership team. Leaving the Paulist community in 2005, He worked for 10 years in religious publishing for Loyola Press in Chicago working as the Director of Adult Spirituality Resources leading a team of writers and editors.
Rev. Connor honored to take this position to minister with Bishop French helping to bring her vision to fruition for our diverse Diocese. In the short time Rev. Connor has worked with Bishop Sally on the vocation process, she is a clear communicator who listens, understands, and responds. Rev. Connor still hears her words to us after she was elected, “This feels like home.” Rev. Connor feels privileged and honored to work with her and the other members of the Diocesan staff serving the historic congregations of the Diocese of New Jersey.
