Operations Associate—Driver (Part-time) International Seafarers’ Center, Port Newark
The Operations Associate primarily provides transportation to seafarers. Other tasks include assisting with hospitality at SCI’s International Seafarers’ Center (ISC), basic building maintenance, and Christmas at Sea support, as well as other duties as required by the Center Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive seafarers between their vessel and local destinations including Jersey Gardens Mall and the ISC
- Communicate transportation needs of ship crew to the front desk, scheduling and relaying information as required
- Document work activity as required
- Conduct weekly inspection of building and vehicles; complete checklist and promptly report any issues to Center Director
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Availability to work 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday-Friday, and flexibility to work additional hours if needed
- Ability to understand and communicate both verbal and written instructions to staff and the public
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Capable of driving a 12- or 15-passenger van
- Possession of or ability to obtain a federal Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
- Ability to courteously interact with people from diverse backgrounds
- Punctuality and willingness to work a flexible schedule
- Initiative-taker completing tasks without supervision
Job type: Part-time (no weekends) Pay Rate: $21 per hour
