“Be still and know that I am God!" (Psalm 46:10) Our world is complex and it can be overwhelming and our thoughts can sometimes be scattered. Where is God in
During Holy Week each year, clergy of the diocese gather at Trinity Cathedral for prayer, reflection, and a renewal of their ordination vows. This year, the event will be held on April 4—Tuesday in Holy Week—with the theme of being a “Spiritual Field Hospital,” a retreat based on the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
A spiritual exercise is a simple, structured, refreshing way to pray. It was developed by St Ignatius Loyola nearly 500 years ago, and has helped many people during times of feast and famine, enrichment and plague, inside and outside churches.
At the retreat, clergy will be praying and meditating on self-care and revival. They will draw on their lived experience and their present feelings and desires. It will be a time of listening, silent meditation, and spiritual conversation with one another. Clergy should bring a journal to gather insights and graces.
