Sts. Stephen and Barnabas, Florence—Congregation Profile

Contributed by: Fr. Ryan Paetzold, Sts. Stephen and Barnabas, Florence

Part of a series of profiles of congregations across the Diocese. See more here. Submit your congregation’s profile here.

We are a small, friendly, open minded, caring church, with a big heart. All are welcome to worship with us each Sunday in Florence, New Jersey.

A few of our ministries are: Each Wednesday evening, at 7 PM on Zoom, we have a Faith Formation Gathering- Evening Prayer. The gathering may be a Bible study, special topic, prayer service, or something different. We have members of our church, people from within our Diocese, and even someone from Ohio who join us. We are a very lively group, and have many interesting and informative conversations. We are currently discussing the lectionary texts and the Gospel reading for the Sunday after our gathering. Partnering with a local school, we were able to distribute backpacks and school supplies to the students.

We are also looking forward to creating a relationship with a local senior living home. Father Ryan will visit them on Ash Wednesday. Hopefully we will be able to visit them and celebrate Mass together when it is safe to do so. There is so much good work to be done. It is good to do the work of the Lord.

Our Mission: To restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ
