Bishops surround Sally J. French to lay hands on her and consecrate her as the 13th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of new Jersey.
The Right Rev. William H. Stokes, 12th Bishop of New Jersey, right, passes the diocesan Bishop's crozier to his successor, the Right Rev. Dr. Sally J. French. The crozier, which dates to the episcopate of the Right Rev. Paul Matthews (1915 to 1937) and is made of teak and sterling silver.
