OTHER RESOURCES
Multi-Lingual Know Your Rights Videos for Immigrants from Brooklyn Defenders and the ACLU. Helpful for allies to know these, also.
Ladder of Engagement for Immigration Advocacy and Action — a guide to education and engaging congregations on immigration issues in a step-by step way.
Factsheet: Rescission of Protected Areas Policies Explains the Administration’s decision to rescind Protected Areas (AKA Sensitive Locations) policies of prior administrations, which instructed ICE not to carry out enforcement actions in religious settings, schools, and health care facilities. ICE is currently able to carry out enforcement actions in those locations (within Constitutional limits outlined in the document).
The Episcopal Church has joined a religious freedom lawsuit challenging this decision.
A Guide for Employers: What to Do if Immigration Comes to Your Workplace
Relevant for Churches as employers, as well as employers in our congregations. Info on how to prepare in advance, including designating private spaces within otherwise public buildings, training staff, Constitutional rights that employers have, etc.
Other Organizations
New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice
Clergy Emergency League
(CEL) This is a grassroots network of clergy speaking with a unified voice against the abuses of power at the federal, state, and local levels. Another good source, with periodic immigration related Zooms; also weekly Lectionary Study Group for sermon prep from a justice perspective.
