The Rev. Canon Joan Mason is the Transitions Officer for the Diocese of New Jersey since November 2023. A retired priest of the Diocese, Canon Joan has deep roots in the Diocese of New Jersey and last served as Rector at Christ Church, Toms River, for sixteen years. She also served as Co-chair of the ECS-NJ Advisory Committee, for many years as Deputy to General Convention, and continues as President of the Hispanic Coalition. Joan’s familiarity with the people and places of the diocese, combined with her deep spiritual commitment to God’s people, serves us well as she provides this part-time ministry in her retirement.
Joan is married to Jeff. She has two boys (Chris/Tracey and Clay/Jen) and has 7 grandchildren between them. She says, “Traveling, grandchildren and Transitions make for a great retirement life.”
