Today I am announcing the appointment of The Rev. Theodore A. Foley, Deacon as an Archdeacon in the Diocese of NJ. Deacon Ted was ordained in the class of 2012 and, has since been serving at Christ Church, Toms River. Ted has served on the Committee on the Diaconate and the Anti-Racism Commission including three years as co-chair. He has been an outspoken advocate for social justice for immigrants and people of color and has had several articles published in various media. In the Toms River area, he has led the local Interfaith Clergy Association and, in partnership with other churches and community leaders, started a non-profit to address homelessness.
Deacon Ted becomes the fourth archdeacon currently serving the Diocese of NJ, joining the Rev.’s Denise Cavaliere, Lynn Johnson, and Carol Pepe. Deacon Ted is looking forward to help strengthen the spiritual formation of our deacons and building up community in our diaconate. He will also serve, along with Lynn Johnson, as co-chair of the Committee on the Diaconate. Please join me in supporting Ted in this very important ministry.
