VIDEO & PHOTOS: Pride Service Celebrates Diversity

The Rev. Micah Cronin preaches the sermon at the June 11 Pride Eucharist

June is “Pride Month,” commemorating the ongoing struggle for equal rights within the LGBTQ+ community. For the second year, the diocese recognized this event through a special diocesan Pride Eucharist. While last year the event was celebrated at Trinity Cathedral, this time the venue was St. George’s-by-the-River in Rumson, on Sunday, June 11. The preacher was the Rev. Micah Cronin, curate at St. George’s. Cronin’s emotional sermon spoke of his own journey as an LGBTQ+ Christian, finding a place in a church that sometimes rejects him.

Clergy from across the diocese, including Bishop Stokes, Bishop-Elect French, and the Rev. Scott Russell, chair of the diocesan LGBTQ+ Commission, joined the service, which was followed by an informal outdoor reception.
