Letter to the Diocese from the Standing Committee—A Clarification

Contributed by: The Reverend Edmund W. Zelley, President of Standing Committee

September 27, 2021

My dear Sisters and Brothers of the Diocese of New Jersey,

It has been brought to my attention that my letter of September 2 stated something that is inaccurate and may have caused confusion.

So for clarification purposes:

By now each congregation should have held a special meeting to elect up to 6 lay representatives from the congregation to attend the Special Convocation meeting on October 24.  All congregations should have reported the names of their representatives to the Deans of the Convocation. Also clergy should report what convocation they minister in or reside in so that you are voting at the appropriate meeting.

To be a candidate for the Search Committee, please know you do not have to be a delegate to the meeting. There is a very convenient and easy-to-use form on the Diocesan Web site. Please use that. More information about the process is available on this page.

I hope this clears up any confusion. And I apologize if my previous letter caused confusion or concern.

If there are other questions, concerns, well wishes etc., please email me.

Yours in Christ

The Reverend Edmund W. Zelley
President of Standing Committee
