Jesse Tree Devotionals for Advent

Contributed by: St. Peter's Church, Freehold

The Jesse Tree is an interactive way to tell the story of people and events that form the family tree of Jesus Christ. As we prepare, in Advent, for the birth of Jesus, these symbols are a way to connect our own faith in Jesus to these stories, some familiar and some less familiar. This year, St. Peter’s Church in Freehold decided to bring this traditional Advent devotional to families in the congregation with a modern twist by offering short, daily video devotions.

The Rev. Dirk Reinken, Rector at St. Peter’s, worked with Anne Delgado, Director of Formation, to record 28 videos, each one featuring a different Scripture passage, brief reflection, and collect. Some were recorded in the church’s historic sanctuary and some were recorded at home, to show that these devotionals are appropriate anywhere, anytime! Videos are posted each day on the congregation’s FaceBook page and YouTube channel.
