Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Daniel. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

We ask all members of the diocese for their prayers for the repose of the soul of the Rev. Daniel C. Hall, Priest Associate of the Church of the Advent in Cape May, who passed away peacefully on August 21, in North Cape May. Born on November 13, 1936, in Atlantic City, Daniel’s journey was one of dedicated service and love.

Daniel’s life was a testament to selfless service, etching an enduring impression on all fortunate enough to know him. He was not only a cherished spouse, parent, grandparent, and friend, but also a devoted counselor with an unwavering love for God and His Episcopal Church.

Across the chapters of his life, Daniel’s story took him through diverse roles—military service in the Army, an accomplished insurance salesman, a compassionate counselor, and even a dedicated substitute teacher. Daniel also was a Mason at Cape Island Lodge #30 for the past 45 years holding the position of Chaplin in his local lodge for 27 years. However, his most profound calling was found within the walls of the Episcopal Church. He had been an Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross for more than 50 years. In 1985, he became a Deacon, and in November of 2019, he achieved his lifelong aspiration of being ordained as a priest, a moment that illuminated his journey.

The memory of Daniel’s enduring legacy will be cherished by his beloved surviving family members. His wife of six decades, Barbara, was his steadfast partner in life. His children and grandchildren carry his torch: daughter Sandra and her husband David, along with their children Erica (Charlie) and Christopher; son Christopher and his wife Sherri, along with their children Connor (Madi), Breanne, and Amelia. His impact extended beyond his immediate family to embrace his church community where his presence was felt deeply. Of special note, he officiated the weddings of two of his cherished grandchildren, Erica and Connor, a testament to his guiding influence in their lives.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Daniel’s remarkable journey will be held on Sunday, August 27, at the Church of the Advent at 612 Franklin St. in Cape May and livestreamed on YouTube. Friends and family will be received between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m. A Masonic Service, opened to the public, will take place at 2:30 pm. After this, a Burial Office and Funeral Requiem with Eucharist will start at 3:00 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Sally French will be the celebrant, the Rev. John Mitchell will be the homilist and co-celebrate along with the Rev. Alan Leonard. Parking is available at Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be directed to Church of the Advent or to the Holy Cross Monastery at 1615 Route 9W, West Park, NY.
