Choir Camp to Return July 17–21

Contributed by: Mark A. Trautman, Organist-Choirmaster and Administrator, St. John's Somerville

Choir Camp is on!

We will once again have choir camp this summer! It will take place at Holiday House/Cape May on July 17-21.

The choir camp experience gives young choristers the opportunity to join with peers from communities throughout the Diocese and the region. This intense period of growth—socially, musically, and spiritually—provides experiences that last a lifetime. Choristers leave choir camp with a sense of enthusiasm that they bring back to their respective parishes and communities that help spread the Gospel and grow the church!

Choristers 10–18 years of age from the Diocese of New Jersey and the Diocese of Newark are welcome to join us. All campers will be required to be fully vaccinated, and show proof of vaccination. Our staff this year will be Mark Trautman (Director; St. John’s, Somerville), Daniel Romero (Organist; Grace Church, Newark); Cat Sabine (Lead counselor; St. Mary’s, Burlington) and Giulia Utz (Vocal coach; St. Paul’s, Englewood). The fee for each camper is $475—this includes accommodation at Holiday House, dinner on Sunday through Wednesday, lunch on Monday through Thursday. The week ends with Choral Evensong on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. Trebles and changed boys’ voices are welcome.

You may register for camp with Kathe Christiansen at the Church of the Advent (609.884.3065) or on our Choir Camp Web site.

Evensong at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton

To that end, we will once again have a reunion Evensong on Saturday, June 4 at Trinity Cathedral. The service will be at 4 p.m. All former campers are welcome to join us! We will sing George Dyson’s Evening Canticles (you can find them here and you can hear the Magnificat here and the Nunc dimittis here), Plainsong responses, Psalm 16, and Barry Rose’s Risen Lord (find a recording here).

Please spread the word!
