Nine New Jersey counties—seven in the Diocese of New Jersey—are now considered “high-risk” areas for Covid transmission, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending the wearing of masks for indoor events and on public transportation.
The counties ranked as “high” risk include Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Gloucester, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean and Sussex, according to the CDC.
New Jersey reported 5,309 confirmed positive Covid tests on Friday, the highest number since January.
Diocesan guidelines recommend masking in communities that the CDC considers high risk. More information is included in the latest version of guidelines issued by the RRR Task Force on May 6.
