Bishop French Preaches at Choir Camp Evensong

Recording of the Choral Evensong celebrating the completion of this year’s diocesan Choir Camp, celebrated on July 20 at Church of the Advent in Cape May

The Diocese of New Jersey Choir Camp held its 33rd Youth Choir week on July 16–20 at Holiday House of the Girl’s Friendly Society of the Diocese of Pennsylvania and the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Cape May. Choristers from parishes in the Diocese of Newark and the Diocese of New Jersey gathered for a week of Christian formation through singing, praying, and having fun. The week concluded with a beautiful Choral Evensong at the Church of the Advent at 4 pm on Thursday, July 20. The Right Reverend Sally French, newly consecrated Bishop of New Jersey, was preacher and officiant. You can see a video of the service on this page above. 
 
The camp was directed by Mark Trautman, Organist and Choirmaster of St. John’s, Somerville. Giulia Utz, Interim Director of the St. Paul’s Choir School of Englewood served as voice instructor; Daniel Romero, Director of Music at Grace Church, Newark served as organist; and Cat Sabin, Singer at St. Mary’s, Burlington served as head proctor. Featured in the service were a setting of Evening Canticles composed by Vernon Williams, Director of Music at Trinity, Moorestown.
