

Fr. Bernie Maguire, a priest of the Diocese of Pennsylvania, was serving as long-term supply priest at Church of the Ascension, Gloucester City, and Holy Spirit, Bellmawr. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer early in August and died on August 9. [/caption]
He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on January 31, 1945, the son of the late Bernard L. Maguire, Jr. and the late R. Elizabeth (Knox) Maguire.
Fr. Maguire was raised in North Carolina and Delaware. He has been living in Plymouth Meeting, PA, since the late 1970’s.
Fr. Maguire served the following parishes: Church of the Transfiguration, Rhode Island, Church of the Holy Communion, South Philadelphia, Calvary Episcopal Church, Conshohocken, Washington Memorial Chapel, Valley Forge, Church of the Ascension, Gloucester City, NJ, and Church of the Holy Spirit, Bellmawr, NJ. He was serving as a supply priest to the two churches in New Jersey immediately prior to his death.
He is survived by his sister, Joann (& Michael) McCarthy; sister in-law, Michele Sylvester; nephew, Kyle Maguire; niece, Jessica Freas; great nieces and nephews, Jasmyne & Dane Freas and Aubrey & Ryan Maguire.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald K. Maguire.
His Funeral Service was held on August 22.
Interment will be private at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
