Urban Revitalization Task Force The mission of the Urban Revitalization Task Force of the Diocese of New Jersey is to reset the relationship between the Episcopal church and people of color, especially urban communities where historically Black churches are located.Our work will fulfill the mission of the Episcopal church: proclaiming the Good News; teaching, baptizing and nurturing new believers; responding to human need through loving service; transforming unjust structures of society; challenging violence; and pursuing peace and reconciliation. Haitian Earthquake At least 2,000 people were killed and 7,000 injured when a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on Saturday morning. That toll is expected to rise. The United Nations estimates that 1.2 million people, including 540,000 children, have been affected. Tropical Storm Grace, which hit the area Monday evening, is hampering relief efforts. Further aggravating the situation is the destruction of many churches in the country, which is a traditional source of relief in times of disaster.
