Online Worship and Program to Commemorate MLK

On Jan. 17, the Diocese will commemorate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with an online worship program featuring Bishop Chip Stokes as celebrant and Dr. Quincy Bloxom, founder of the EraseTheRedline social action organization and governor’s appointee to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission.
The program begins at 10:00 a.m. on Martin Luther King Day via Zoom and simultaneously livestreamed to the Diocese YouTube channel. Register in advance to receive a reminder of the service or simply join as the service starts. Monday, Jan. 17 10:00 a.m. Register

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Quincy Bloxom, ErasetheRedLine
Dr. Quincy Bloxom, DSW, MSW, CFSW is Founder & Director of EraseTheRedline Inc. and President and Owner of Erase the Divide LLC. He recently served as Tri-Chair of New Jersey’s Poor People Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. He is the past President of the Board of Directors at the Anti-Poverty Network (APN) of New Jersey, APN is now a program of NJ Citizen’s Action. He also advises and sits on the board of trustees for Addiction & Behavior Alliance LLC. He recently completed a Doctoral of Social Work from the University of Southern California, taught as an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University and continuing education instructor with Rutgers University. He is a Governor Phil Murphy appointee to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission and the inaugural chair of its Youth Policy Committee. Prior to becoming a social worker, he served in the US Army; achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, with multiple awards and decorations associated with his service and deployment under Operation Iraqi Freedom. His current place-based research and practice centers around harnessing technology for social good through increasing internet connectivity and unlocking government data as prescribed by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare Grand Challenges for Social Work. In addition to leading several digital inclusion initiatives statewide, he also co-leads the field of Social Work’s Eliminating Racism Grand Challenge national online seminar steering committee. At the macro level he has served as an advisor to dozens of advocacy groups presenting around his forthcoming text, EraseTheRedline: A comparative study and comprehensive community guide to combat the effects of redlining in NJ. In addition to consulting community-based organizations, Dr. Bloxom previously served as Director of Operations and Development to a holistic wellness substance abuse and mental health outpatient treatment facility.
