St. Bernard’s Church is excited to announce that we will be hosting a FREE Movie Event on Sunday, April 16, at 3 pm at the Bernardsville Movie Theater. This is the first in a series of 4 events that are being held to celebrate and mark St. Bernard’s Church 125th Anniversary.
Two movies will be on offer to choose from: Hidden Figures-Showtime 3pm: The story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program; and Disney’s Finding Nemo-Showtime 3:15 pm: After his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring him home.
The event is FREE to all but tickets must be obtained as seating in the theater is limited. Tickets can be obtained from the St. Bernard’s Church website: www.stbernardsnj.org/register-for-services. Attendees can download a printed ticket or show their tickets on their phones on entry. Tickets will be required for entry. Refreshments will be available for purchase from the theater.
Whilst the event is FREE the church invites all attendees to give a freewill donation to benefit St. Bernard’s Church Community Fund. For decades, St. Bernard’s Community Fund has been an avenue to help neighbors in need with a one-time grant. During the 2020 shutdown, the Community Fund became the vehicle for many generous community members and parishioners to help keep food on the tables and roofs over the heads of our neighbors.
On behalf of the parish and Fund, Pastor Beth works with community partners to provide strategic and creative support in the community. In 2022, the Community Fund helped 14 local students access a pediatrician to return to school after COVID exposure or COVID; coordinated with Zufall Health to provide access to dental cleanings and X-rays for 15 students, covering some of the cost; sponsored food for fun events to connect local Latino students and parents with the schools and resources; and provided mortgage, rent, healthcare, or auto repair payments for individuals and families in need in our local area.
Our fund is maintained by generous donors and grants and we invite you to donate to the Community Fund at the event so that we can continue to support those in need in our community. Cash and checks can be given at the event with checks being made payable to “St. Bernard’s Community Fund”. If you are unable to make the event but would still like to donate you can send your donation to the Parish Office at St. Bernard’s Church, 88 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, NJ 07924. Thank you!
