Advent Clergy Quiet Morning – To Make Ready a People Prepared for the Lord
Tuesday, December 7, 2021 – 10:00 AM–Noon
Clergy pre-register or join live here: https://bit.ly/ClergyQuiet
The theme of this Clergy Quiet Morning is taken from Luke 2:17, words spoken by an angel of the Lord to the priest Zechariah as he offered incense in the sanctuary of the Lord. The angel was foretelling the birth of a son to the aged priest and his wife Elizabeth. Zechariah was disbelieving and, as a result, his mouth was closed until the child was born. This child would, indeed, prepare the way of the Lord. Clergy are charged with making “ready a people prepared for the Lord” this Advent and Christmas but many are exhausted, tired, “Covid-fatigued.” Where will the resources come from to do this work of holy people preparation? How will clergy themselves be prepared for the coming of the Lord?
During the course of the Advent Quiet Morning, Bishop Stokes will offer brief meditations on each of the so-called Suffering Servant Songs from the Book of Isaiah inviting clergy to reflect on these in small break-out groups as they explore their own personal contexts and dispositions for proclaiming the coming of the Lord this year.
