“Be still and know that I am God!" (Psalm 46:10) Our world is complex and it can be overwhelming and our thoughts can sometimes be scattered. Where is God in
Twenty years ago, members of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Trenton, New Jersey, organized a golf outing designed to both raise funds for the Cathedral’s ministry and foster fellowship among member churches of the Diocese of New Jersey. Since its founding, the outing has raised nearly $580,000 and brings together representatives from more than 20 congregations from the far reaches of the Diocese.
Bishop George E. Councell, 11th bishop of the Diocese (2003-2013) was an early and stalwart supporter of what would become a signature event. A genial presence, his infectious enthusiasm greeted participants as they returned to the clubhouse anxious to learn who would be awarded the coveted Bishop’s Cup. Following his untimely death in 2018, the outing was named in Bishop Councell’s honor.
The ministries of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral continue to be inspired by the grace and dignity of Bishop Councell, tirelessly serving churchgoers and the greater community at large during these tumultuous times.
