Proceeds to benefit ministries of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
—1 Corinthians 10:31
On Monday, Oct. 10, golfers from across New Jersey will gather for the 18th Annual Bishop George E Councell Memorial Golf Outing that will be held once more at Mercer Oaks Golf Course in West Windsor, New Jersey. The outing is the largest fundraiser for Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the second parish home for all Episcopalians of the Diocese. The annual tournament has raised nearly $500,000 in support of the Cathedral’s vital and diverse community ministries.
Full of friends, fun, and fellowship, this year’s outing promises to be the most enjoyable yet. Golfers of all ages and skill levels are invited to play the scenic course under a scoring system designed to keep them in the running for the prestigious Bishop’s Cup created in honor of the beloved George Councell, eleventh bishop of the diocese and the outing’s greatest booster. After golf, it’s a hearty repast, not just for the golfers but for all friends of the Cathedral. There, in addition to celebrating the golf and skills award winners, attendees can participate in a spirited live auction of fabulous prizes.
Proceeds from the event support a wide range of cathedral ministries impacting the greater Trenton area and beyond, from its food pantry and yeoman work with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, to its partnership with Urban Promise to lift kids up, its academy pre-school to prepare them to learn, and the Blue Mountain Music Camp to bring the joy of music into their lives. It’s golfing with a mission!
The outing has become a visible symbol of diocesan unity and a celebration of God’s blessings, offered with deep appreciation for our cathedral and bishop. And as we emerge from dire days, it is a great way to reconnect as a diocesan family. As Bishop Councell would say, “Right Onward!”
For registration, sponsorship, and more information, visit the cathedral’s website or call the Cathedral Office, (609) 392-3805.
