• Consented to the Election of Matthew Alan Gunter as Bishop Diocesan of the Diocese of Fond du Lac.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on September 19, 2013

  • The Rev. Terry L. Martin was appointed by the Standing Committee to fill the unexpired term for Rev. Eklund until the 2014 Convention.
  • Received a written report from the Transition Committee.
  • Canon Moeller gave an update on the upcoming Service of Celebration for Bishop Councell’s ministry and the Consecration.
  • Alice Hodgkins Courtright, Anthony Puca, Jr., and Katlin E. McCallister, were recommended for Ordination to the Transitional Diaconate.
  • Conveyed approval to St. Peter’s, Clarksboro, to proceed with the plan to sell three different parcels – the rectory, located at 200 Kings Highway, Mt. Royal, New Jersey and two pieces of adjacent farmland recognizing; however, that the sale of each parcel, in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the Real Estate Memorandum, must come before the Standing Committee for its approval before the sale can be consummated.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on August 15, 2013

  • Received a written report from the Transition Committee.
  • Approved making the payment of an arrearage for a clergy member from the Aged and Infirm Clergy Fund, assuming that the payment is approved by the Benefits Committee at their September meeting.
  • Bishop Councell was lauded by the Standing Committee members for his steadfast and superb leadership in the Diocese of New Jersey for the past ten years.
  • Consented to the election of a Bishop Coadjutor for the Diocese of Mississippi.
  • Approved the purchase of a second rectory for St. George’s Church-by-the-River, Rumson.
  • Thanked the Rev. Carolyn H. Eklund for her diligence and wisdom in serving the Standing Committee. Rev. Eklund has accepted a call in the Diocese of Maine. Her unexpired term will be filled by the Standing Committee until Convention 2014.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on July 18, 2013

  • Consented to the election of Whayne M. Hougland Jr. as Bishop Diocesan of the Diocese of Western Michigan.
  • Gave consent for Christ Church, Bordentown, to sell the property at 134 Prince Street, Bordentown.
  • Recommended that an appropriate form be developed by the real estate sub-committee that would consolidate all components made necessary by the Real Estate Agreement into an easy document in order to simplify future considerations.

  • Consented to the Election of Mark Allen Bourlakas as Bishop Diocesan of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia.
  • Consented to the Election of a Bishop Coadjutor for the Diocese of Massachusetts.

  • Recommend that Diocesan Council amend the original Trust Agreement of the
  • Elizabeth Fund that money be used for feasibility study pursuant to Grace Church (4th church) being declared closed at Convention.

  • Consented to the process of St. John’s Church, Woodbridge, in making application to be reclassified as an Independent Parish of the Diocese of New Jersey.
  • Recommended Megan Thomas for Candidacy.
  • Consented to the Election of William Jay Lambert as Bishop Diocesan of the Diocese of Eau Claire.
  • Approved the compensation package for Bishop Councell for 2013 as proposed by the Finance & Budget Committee and approved by Diocesan Council subject to Diocesan Convention approval.
  • Approved the compensation package for Bishop-Elect as proposed by the Finance & Budget Committee and approved by Diocesan Council subject to Diocesan Convention approval.
