What: “Undoing Racism” 2 ½- day introductory workshop retreat, instructed by The Peoples Institute for Survival and Beyond, and assisted by members of the Diocesan Anti-Racism Commission and Team. The workshop’s systemic approach emphasizes understanding racism, learning from history, developing leadership, maintaining accountability to communities, undoing internalized racial oppression, and understanding the role of organizational gate keeping as a mechanism to perpetuate institutional racism.
When: April 23-25, 2015, Thurs evening, all day Friday and all day Saturday
The workshop is a residential retreat, beginning with dinner at 6:00 PM on Thursday followed by training until 9 PM. Instruction begins at 8:30 AM on Friday and Saturday and ends on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
Information concerning lodging will be forthcoming.
Cost: Participants pay a $50 nonrefundable registration fee to reserve a place and offset tuition and workshop costs. (Non-members of the diocese pay $450.) Double occupancy hotel rooms shared with one other person are provided by the Anti-Racism Commission’s diocesan budget. Participants may choose to commute. All meals are provided for participants.
