CANCELLED Mass Incarceration Conference
November 26, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
Mass Incarceration: The Impact of Criminalizing Mental Illness
Learn about & discuss the intersection between mass incarceration & mental illness.
Leaders: Trinity Cathedral and the Campaign to End the New Jim Crow, Princeton/Trenton Chapter
This conference will focus on how the criminalization of mental illness affects those who are mentally ill, their families, and our communities. Persons with mental illness often end up in prisons or jails because of a lack of adequate treatment options, only to encounter more damage to their mental health while imprisoned and continued difficulties and obstacles upon re-entry into their communities. Conference workshops and discussions will cover mental illness, the criminal justice system, incarceration experiences of the mentally ill, the impact of incarceration on youth and families, and the challenges of re-entry.
Cost Early registration fee of $10 through November 11; $20 after November 11 or at the door. Continental breakfast and lunch included, but only guaranteed with pre-registration.
