February 23 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pmFreewill offering
On Sunday, February 23, at 4PM, the choir of All Saints’ Church, Princeton, NJ, and alumni from Westminster Choir College, will present a service of remembrance and reflection for two musical luminaries, Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt and Nancianne Parrella. Dr. Flummerfelt was the artistic director and chief choral conductor at Westminster, collaborating with Leonard Bernstein, Riccardo Muti, Riccardo Chailly, among many others; Nancianne Parrella made her name internationally as his accompanist. The service will feature the immortal and ethereal Requiem, op. 9, by 20th Century French organist and composer Maurice Duruflé. The choir will be joined by organist Mark Laubach, winner of the 1984 American Guild of Organists national competition, Alyce Daubenspeck, mezzo soprano and Mimi Morris-Kim, cello. The musicians will be conducted by All Saints’ Director of Music, Kevin O’Malia.
There will also be readings, personal reflections and hymns offered at the remembrance service. A freewill offering will be taken to endow choral scholarships in honor of Dr. Flummerfelt and Nancianne Parrella, in the positions of two choral scholarships. These internships, beginning in September 2020, will offer the opportunity for high school and college students to work with a fine church choir, to gain experience in musical education and professional development, and to perfect their art. Following the service, a reception will be given to meet and greet the artists, and for refreshments and fellowship.
