2017 Special Workshops
Walking in the Footsteps of the Saints – For close to 2000 years, the saints of the Church have walked a path of faith, hand in hand with their loving Savior. The Labyrinth offers us as Christians a unique opportunity to take a closer walk with God through meditation and prayer. This workshop designed for adults and older acolytes will offer an introduction to the Labyrinth and give participants a chance to walk the sacred path.
Saint’s Scavenger Hunt – If you found all the items on last year’s scavenger hunt, don’t worry – we’re always on the lookout for more for you to find! This workshop provides Acolytes of all ages with a chance to learn about the cathedral and search for some very saintly figures hidden in the art and architecture of the Cathedral.
Taking the Next Step – Are you ready to take the next step? Learn the role of the server at the credence table and altar. Be part of this hands-on lesson in assisting the Celebrant at the Eucharist. Recommended for intermediate acolytes.
You’re an Acolyte—Now What? – Offered each year, this basic course in processions, procedures, and teamwork, is highly recommended for younger acolytes and beginners of all ages.
Making a Joyful Noise – For young people and adults who like to sing, this workshop will offer an opportunity to learn a piece of choral music that will be sung during the closing Eucharist. No experience is necessary, but, this workshop is not recommended for the very young who might have difficulty reading the words.
Artistic Flairs -This hands-on workshop gives participants a chance to explore the creative world of liturgical crafts. Recommended for acolytes of all ages.
Games and Practical Tips for Teambuilding – This workshop features lots of teambuilding games that will help your acolytes develop skills they need to work together effectively. Recommended for acolytes of all ages.
Adults Roundtable – Designed for acolyte masters, clergy, and other adults involved with acolytes, this workshop will provide an excellent forum for sharing ideas with other involved adults from across the diocese and discussing many aspects of ministry with Bishop Stokes.
