Please join us for this provocative and illuminating conference as we seek to deepen our engagement with the ministry of preaching—and, above all, with our spiritual life as clergy in this critical and challenging time for leadership in the early 21st century. The cost is $395.00 for a Single Room; $280 for Shared Room; Registration begins on November 11, Monday at 4:00PM, with Opening Evening Prayer at 5:30PM. The charge for commuters is only $160. Our Bishop has committed to scholarships for clergy who find it difficult to meet the cost of the conference; so funding will not be a barrier for clergy attending; if you need scholarship assistance, please contact the Rev. Hugh E. Brown, III, chair of the Clergy Continuing Education Committee at rector@allsaint.org. About the Presenter The Reverend Fleming Rutledge The Rev. Fleming Rutledge, one of the first women to be ordained to the priesthood of the Episcopal Church, is well known in the United States, Canada, and the UK as a lecturer, preacher, and teacher of other preachers. Her published sermon collections have met with wide acclaim. The most recent such collection is Advent: The Once and Future Coming of Jesus Christ. Her major work, which took twenty years to write, is The Crucifixion: Understanding the Death of Jesus Christ, named Best Book of 2016 by Christianity Today. It has received strong reviews across denominational lines, from Christian Century to Commonweal, and has been admiringly noted by The Church Times of the Church of England. Bishop Robert Barron of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Los Angeles has made five major videos on The Crucifixion and describes it as the best theological book he’s read in the past decade. Mrs. Rutledge, a native of Virginia, matriculated at General Theological Seminary and received her Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1975. She spent twenty years in parish ministry in New York City and its environs. She and her husband, Reginald E. (Dick) Rutledge, a retired marketing consultant, celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this year. They have two daughters and two adult grandchildren.
