A Conversation with Dr. John W. Carlos
November 9 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm$5 – $50
Trinity Cathedral is proud to host A Conversation with Dr. John W. Carlos (1968 Olympian and Humanitarian) on Saturday, November 9 at 3:00 pm. Dr. Carlos is known as a Bronze medalist in the 1968 Summer Olympics, where he and Dr. Tommie Smith raised their fists on the winner’s podium during the National Anthem in protest against the oppression of marginalized communities in the US and around the world.
It’s been 50 years since that historic day and Dr. Carlos continues to be recognized as a social justice advocate and “The World’s Fastest Humanitarian.” A Conversation with Dr. John W. Carlos will be a timely and relevant dialogue on social justice topics including generational poverty, homelessness, access to healthcare, systemic racism and how these issues affect the mental health and wellness of individuals, families and communities. “How can you ask someone to live in the world and not have something to say about injustice,” says Dr. Carlos.
Join Dr. John W. Carlos and his daughter, Kimme Carlos (Founder and Executive Director of the Urban Mental Health Alliance) for this very timely conversation on social justice and mental health. Ticket donations are $50 for adults and $25 for students. Children age 5 and under enter free. To purchase tickets, contact Trinity Cathedral at (609) 392-3805 ext. 100, Kimme Carlos at email@example.com or visit www.TrinityCathedralNJ.org.
