March 3—An Early Easter

Share

Dear People and Friends of the Diocese of New Jersey,

As many of you are aware, my mother, Jean Marden Cole, died last Sunday night after suffering for years from Alzheimer’s disease. Susan and I, as well as my brothers and our families, are deeply grateful for the kind expressions of love and sympathy we have received, and above all for the prayers that have been offered for us and for the repose of our mother’s soul. Thank you all.

Our mother made the decision many years ago to donate her body to The Albert Einstein School for Medicine Anatomical Gift Program. This last act of thoughtfulness on her part offers a genuine picture of the kind of person she was. A person of faith, our mother sang in church choirs and taught Sunday School for much of her life. As we entrust her to the mercy and love of God in Christ, I imagine her singing The strife is o’er as a member of the heavenly choir.

Lent has just begun but those of us who loved my mother can’t help feeling Easter has come a little early.

God bless you and keep you.
