World Day of Prayer – Whiting

March 2 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 180 Route 539, Whiting, NJ, is the site of this year’s celebration of World Day of Prayer in Whiting.  Each year, a group of women from a country write an entire worship service.  Churches all over the world celebrate this service on the same day.  This ecumenical spirit encourages prayer and action everywhere.  It makes it more powerful.

This year’s service will be held on Friday, March 2, at 2PM, at St. Stephen’s Church.  “All God’s creation is very good!” is the theme, utilizing Genesis and the universal issues of climate change, natural disasters, pollution, and human abuse of the environment.  All affecting God’s good Creation and God’s people will be explored.  The service is written by the Christian women of Suriname.  It includes prayers, readings from the Old and New Testament, hymns, information about the country and people, and thoughts to share and think about.

Members of local churches will be sharing in the readings.  Besides St. Stephen’s, members of Christ Lutheran Church, Community Reformed Church, and others will participate.  Refreshments will be served following the service.  A free will offering helps to continue World Day projects throughout the world.  Come join us!
