Essentials of Faith: A Lenten Series
March 7 @ 6:30 pm - 8:15 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until April 11, 2017
This Lent, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 182 Main Street, Gladstone, is offering a six-week series entitled, “Essentials of Faith,” running on Tuesday evenings from March 7 through April 11 at 6:30 pm. The series intends to answer important questions about faith while at the same time, providing an opportunity for peace during a stressful time. For those looking to take on a habit or to give up a vice in order to enhance the season, this series is the perfect response. Participants are invited to share in a potluck meal, listen to thought-provoking presentations, and discuss the relevance of faith in day to day life.
This series will feature prominent guest speakers: Professor of Philosophy and the Arts at Princeton Theological Seminary, Rev. Dr. Gordon Graham, Associate Professor of New Testament at General Seminary, Rev. Dr. Todd Brewer, Canon for Congregational Development for the Diocese of New Jersey, the Rev. Canon Dr. Rob Droste, as well as parishioner Mr. Richard Somerset-Ward of Bedminster and Rev. Dr. Kent Walley, Rector. Topics include: Essential Pilgrimage, Essential Belief, Essential Books of Anglicanism, Essentials of the Anglican Way, Essentials of the Spiritual Life, and Living the Essentials.
The evening will begin with a simple potluck dinner at 6:30 pm (participants are each asked to bring a covered dish) followed by a presentation and then concluding with table discussion. There is no requirement to commit to all six meetings. Participants may come to all or pick and choose from week to week. No sign-up is required.
