“Undoing Racism” ® & Anti-Racism Organizing
An essential, eye-opening learning experience in combatting the sin of racism.
Leaders: Staff of The Peoples Institute for Survival and Beyond, assisted by members of the Anti-Racism Commission of the Diocese of New Jersey
This 2 ½- day workshop’s systemic approach emphasizes understanding racism, learning from history, developing leadership, maintaining accountability to communities, undoing internalized racial oppression, and understanding the role of organizational gate keeping as a mechanism to perpetuate institutional racism. Spanish/English interpretation will be provided.
To receive credit and certification, participants must attend the full 2 ½ days.
When May 11 – 13, 2017. The workshop is a residential retreat, beginning at 6 pm on Thursday May 11. On Friday May 12, the training day starts after breakfast at 8:30 AM and ends after dinner at 9 pm. Saturday instruction begins after breakfast, provided, at 8:30 AM and ends mid-afternoon after Eucharist.
Cost $50 nonrefundable fee for both commuters and non-commuters to offset tuition, meals, and workshop costs. Non-members of the Diocese pay $450. Double occupancy hotel rooms shared with one other person are provided by the diocesan budget for the Anti-Racism Commission. Participants may choose to commute. Meals are provided for participants.
