If this is the event you wish to register for, please complete this form Certified Growth Coach Training—Come-and-See Session Saturday, February 16—Grace-St. Paul Episcopal Church, Mercerville 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.—FREE (Includes Materials, Snacks, and Lunch) Coaching for Growth The Diocese of New Jersey is nationally recognized as a leader in using coaching techniques to enhance congregational health and vitality while deepening each coach’s relationship with Jesus Christ. Every spring, we train growth coaches who can then go back into their congregations (and their convocations) and help every parishioner be more effective in their ministries. For each of them, their faith grows in depth and power. There are two ways to take the training. First, you can come to the one-day “Come and See” experience on February 16, where you’ll be introduced to the basic concepts to the point where you can start using them yourself that day and beyond. Second, you can go through the rigorous six-month Certification Training, beginning on February 16. Upon completion, you’ll be certified to do paid coaching within Diocese of New Jersey programs (see Canon Droste for more information). If you take the training, you will: Be transformed by high-intensity coaching training Immediately increase your leadership effectiveness inside and outside of church Immediately strengthen your relationships particularly with youth and young adults Upon certification, become eligible for paid coaching positions through diocesan coaching initiatives

Training for Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Eucharistic Visitors

Practice & improve your reading of the lessons & serving of the chalice. IMPORTANT UPDATE: The location for this event has changed. It will now be held at Church of the Holy Cross in North Plainfield. Leaders: Bruce Ashforth, St. Matthew’s Church, Pennington and Melissa Semmes-Thorne, Instructor and Lector Coach, Wenonah, New Jersey This workshop is intended to be a source of help and practice for those who participate in the ministries of Eucharistic Minister, Eucharistic Visitor, and Lector.  Participants will receive information based on sound Biblical theology as well as hands-on practice with seasoned professionals.  You may wish to stay for the entire day as you seek to expand the ministries that you provide to your church or you may focus on the ministry that you already engage in at the church.  Training will be based on the Diocese’s Manual for the Licensing of Lay Ministries which contains the most recent changes in the Canons of The Episcopal Church and requires periodic training for those persons called to these ministries. The morning session of the Licensed Ministries Training will be devoted to a workshop entitled Reading Aloud Effectively.  It is designed to give Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers the skills and techniques to help them read Scripture aloud and to assist the congregation in their understanding of the various texts.  A coaching session will be included. The afternoon session will enable Eucharistic Ministers and Visitors to practice administering the Chalice and Paten and to reflect on the theological and pastoral aspects of these ministries.  Sponsored by the Committee on the Priesthood.
